PhotoPoem: On The Basin

swan3

Paddington Basin:
A white swan on black water
Approaches, slowslender,
Strongshy.
It’s traverse barely troubling
the surface,
Gaze lowered, avoiding my eye.

Then it holds a pose, like a teardrop.
Like a teardrop that fell
From the sky.
Whilst the sun beats down
On the basin;
On that blackwater swan
And I.
